About me

About me

My name is Zuzana Alková and I am a student of English and History at Masaryk University. Except for studying, I also work as an English teacher in a nursery; I work with children aged from three to six (for further information, you can look into the section "extra materials").

I come from a small village called Bystrovany. You can find it near the beautiful historic city of Olomouc. I am twenty-one years old and I have one younger sister.

I have been learning English for thirteen years; since I started attending a language primary school. Although I didn't like English at first, it soon became one of my favourite subjects. During my studies at secondary grammar school, I have visited London with some of my classmates and I realised how beautiful this country is. After this experience, I decided to study this language. My first choice was Charles University in Prague but I failed the entrance exams from History, so I started attending the Faculty of Education at Masaryk University and I couldn't do better. I genuinely like the way English is taught here.

One of my biggest passions is travelling; last year I, along with my boyfriend, spent two months in Bangkok. We were working in a small, cosy hostel. It was the first time I had a chance to speak English with different nationalities and it was an invaluable experience for me. We enjoyed it as much as we could so we decided to spend this summer in Vietnam. But this time, we were teaching English in an English centre in Hai Phong. We worked with either kids and adults and it was probably the best adventure of my life.
