Phonetics and Phonology

This is a written assigment the main task of which was to analise an English text:

Yellow = weak forms

Blue = final "s" pronounced as "z"

Green = linking

Red = aspirated p, t, k

And æ, θ, ð, ŋ phonemes written above any syllable

Phonetics and Phonology Evaluation Sheets

I decided to add those Evaluation Sheets into my Portfolio because I was surprised with my final oral examination. I knew my ponunciation was not good but I did not expect that I will fail the first attempt.

I made couple of mistakes with "æ" sound and aspiration. But the worst were "ð" and "θ" sounds. Mrs Hůlková recorded me and when I heard myself I was a bit ashamed, because I did not expect how terrible my pronunciation of these sounds really is.

After my first attempt I started working hard on it. I recorded myself, I read every English text I saw and I started to read everything aloud.

And then on my first resit Mrs Hůlková seemed surprised and she told me she saw marked improvement.
